In the work «World-Famous Doll Show» the artist, as befits the attentive observer of modern culture, fixes its condition, notices features characteristic for the present time. In the plot, which the author himself defines as «whether it is a militarist circus, or an invasion under the guise of a children’s party», the military jump out of the dolls, as if catching the spectators by surprise. The composition is based on the opposition of carefully crafted characters and the conventionality of bright decoration, serving as the background to the whole performance.

The picture is indicative of how in Koshelev’s work the established images are recoded and politics and ideology are refracted. In combination with the popular folk symbol with the image of military power presented in the wrapping of a show, read both the myth of the Trojan horse and the carnival by Mikhail Bakhtin: the external form does not correspond to the inner content, and «serious» combines with «funny». The shades of red prevailing in the composition give the whole picture dramatic pathos. All of this together creates an unambiguous eloquent statement.
