The life of Lotfull Fattahov could have been written into the screenplay of the film, and his life was so dramatic and eventful. He and his three brothers were orphaned early. At the age of 13, Lotfulla went on foot to Kazan to study. In an unfamiliar city, he had no family or friends. After studying, the little artist stayed overnight in a classroom. He soon befriended a classmate whose family, despite his meager life, took him as their eighth child.
When he was in his final year of art school, the war with Finland began, and Lotfulla volunteered for the war. There began his long military journey.
In the first hours of the Great Patriotic War, the artist was in service in Belarus and got into the so-called Białystok cauldron. He bombed him, lost his hearing and speech for three months, and was taken prisoner. One day, when the POWs were taken in boxcars to another camp, he and his partner managed to disassemble the plank of the car and slipped onto the sleepers between the rails. The train roared over their bodies. The friends found themselves in the territory of France and got into the ranks of the French resistance, took part in the battles.
After the war, he was sent to Moscow, where he studied with the famous Soviet artist Boris Johanson.
In the 1960s and 1970s. Lotfulla Fattahov’s works flourished. But in his paintings there is no hell of war, they, as art historians write, collect the joyful events of the world. One of the favorite themes of the artist was the theme of childhood.
